Sound and Music Computing

The Department of Sound and Music Computing, part of Institute 17 - Electronic Music and Acoustics, pursues the goal to develop an understanding of the phenomena of sound and music on the basis of computerized modeling and production. This involves also the use of scientific, technological and philosophical methods and research in the field of the arts. The resulting crossing over of arts-based research and scientific basic research and application-oriented development is a prerequisite when dealing with numerous research-related questions which can be categorized into four fields.
