Guidelines for the Ethic Advisory Board at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz
The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz admits to and strongly believes in the necessity of its actions in all areas of operations to be morally responsible: science, development and improvement of Arts, teaching and administration.
At the request of the person responsible for a research project, the Ethic Advisory Board will make sure that the proposed research activities are morally sound and that it can make recommendations for dealing with any ethical issues that may arise.
The Ethic Advisory Board acts at free will, voluntary and is not bound by directives. The members of the Ethic Advisory Board are bound to confidentiality.
The main members and the substitution members are appointed by the rector´s office every four years.
If Ethics Committees are responsible under section 30 of the University Act 2002, section 8c of the Federal Hospitals Act and other relevant provisions of the Federation and the State, the Ethics Advisory Board must not advise and refer to the responsible Committee.
There are different fields of science that fall into the competence of the Ethic Advisory Board: a. Internal research project b. cooperative research projects with other institutions and with the University of Music and Performing Arts c. externally funded research projects at the University of Music and Performing Arts d. research projects concluding into a students’ thesis
